When I was first asked to be the publicist for Pride Run ATL, I laughed and said, “Me? I’m not a publicist.”
The president of the run looked at me and said, “How are you not a publicist?”
He was right. I’ve spent more than 20 years in communications, PR, and marketing. I still remember walking into a New York City broadcast studio in my mid-20s to prep a top IBM executive for a finance segment. It was a crash course in messaging, pressure, and presence, and I’ve carried that experience ever since.
Yes, I can help with Pride Run ATL. But this isn’t about my resume. It’s about using my voice to help others, especially those being silenced.
Even if you’re not in Atlanta, you can help.
This moment we’re in is urgent. We’re seeing voices silenced, identities erased, and communities defunded.
Consider just a few examples: • Protections for LGBTQIA+ people are being rolled back • Suicide prevention hotlines are losing funding • Teachers are being penalized for affirming LGBTQ+ youth • Queer military members are facing renewed discrimination • Clinics are closing services for LGBTQIA+ patients.
This is why Pride Run ATL matters.
“We Move Atlanta” is more than a slogan. It’s a statement of presence, pride, and perseverance.
