An Inspiring Woman -- Taylor Swift edition

This weekend I had the incredible opportunity to obtain the much desired tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Atlanta. I have been a 'Swiftie" for years and I am not embarrassed to say it. The seats were awful! But it was worth every song note.

I grew up in the 80s and I have had my share of women artists that I loved Madonna, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, and many others. I even 'tried' to dress like Madonna at one point. My parents only let me get as far as while lace in my hair and black rubber band bracelets. But "Swifties" take it to a whole new level.

EVERY single person in the audience wore some representation of a song or album by Taylor Swift. From the signs to the clothing to the make-up. It was perfection. Every person had their voice and showed off their love for their beloved Taylor. Her word song was sang by the audience and the sheer joy and happiness across the audience was a complete joy to watch.

Part of my fascination and love for Taylor is how she completely revolutionized the music industry. She changed how it was done and how it will be forever done. Here are some ways Taylor Swift made a huge impact on the music industry & society as a whole:

  • She wrote her songs, lyrics, and played instruments from a young age.

  • She was willing to expose her life and love on a music platform. And take criticism for it.

  • She changed her music genre from country to pop to rock and beyond.

  • When she wasn't allowed to obtain her own music license, she re-recorded her albums in "Taylor's version". And the radio industry listened and supported her.

  • She voiced her opinion on topics that have been controversial like equality, women's rights, LGBTQ+, being in previously male dominated.

  • She created a whole social media empire with an unheard of amount of followers of all ages, and backgrounds.

  • She showed the broken the Ticketmaster/concert ticket system. For which, the U.S. Government hopefully will help make industry changes.

  • For the Eras Tour, 2.4 million tickets have been sold with 52 tour dates in 20 U.S. cities.

  • In March 2023, it is the highest attended concert for a female artist in the U.S.

  • Taylor performs each concert for 3+ hours with some 44 songs. (I was tired just singing along).

In my opinion, Taylor Swift is just beginning her career and has years to share her voice. She make us believe in love and also survive the loss of love. I am happy we have her as an inspiration for some many people, including myself.
